Truth – the word itself has so much power. You feel something awe or strong within you when you hear the word. The feeling you get can be two-fold depending on which side of the truth you represent. If you are the one who is telling the truth, it is your guardian angel. On the contrary, if you are on the opposite side of the truth, then it is your conviction sentence.
We have heard plenty of stories about persons who took resort in truth and saved themselves, lives, of themselves even. Representing the truth gives you immense will power and confidentiality in day to day life. Sometimes we do lie. It is not that we have to lie, but we chose to lie, thinking of short-term survival from tricky situations. We have developed the dirty habit of blurting out some lie and slip off, from unpleasant situations. We term them as “White lies”. At a glance, they seem to be “Harmless, innocent” little lies. But however, no matter how small, how insignificant, and how harmless it may seem, a lie is a lie.
Interestingly, we create theories even to categorized lies, as seen above. But in a more honest note, all these we fabricate artificially to justify the fowl action. In other words, more lies to cover up one lie. Therefore, we must always keep in mind that, a lie is a lie and nothing else. The same explanation goes for who says the lie. It does not matter whether it is said by a king or kid or kin foe. It has the same effect.
Lying as a habit has consequences in escalating levels. But a habitual liar would simply ignore these for the sake of practicing his precious habit. The immediate consequence of lying is to lose the trust of your friends and family and everyone subsequently. We acquaint persons in our society labeled as liars. It becomes an unstated truth, with the time that such persons spread bullshit. A liar becomes a laughing stock to society. With time and he loses his dignity at one point in the process. This is just the social impact of lying which you will immediately experience.
There is a serious consequence in lying according to many religious teachings. The society in the eastern parts of the world seriously considers lying the wrong act. According to Buddhist doctrines, lying is one of the five sins you should refrain from, to lead a virtuous, life. Further, the one who speaks the truth despite short term escapes is noble. He sees through the futile enjoyment lying can give momentarily. He obtains the virtues and rewards of truthfulness in his life. Similarly, Lord Buddha in the teachings explained the consequences of lying clearly. Truthfulness leads you to a successful life while you live. It assures a secure path to finding eternal peace ultimately.
The one who is truthful will always live a peaceful, simple and contented life than the one who lies. Truth is always simple and powerful. It gives you a power that nothing else can give. One fantastic fact about truth is, that one who denies truth and believe in a lie, is conducting a wrong. One who denies the truth will also have consequences to suffer, the same as the one who lies.
So, truth is a safety weapon in your hand, which will guard you like no worldly or divine weapon. Be the truthful person who will conquer the world and beyond. It is the ultimate power within you, no force can destroy and no villain can claim.
